Building a sustainable future
Accademia UNIDEE was born of the experience of Fondazione Pistoletto and its educational programmes. Michelangelo Pistoletto, one of the most influential contemporary artists, is the inspiration behind it.
His work shaped a project and a proposal to build a sustainable future, the vision of a possible balance between nature and artifice. The symbol of Accademia UNIDEE is the Third Paradise, recognised all over the world, from Paris to Singapore via Cuba.
The term “paradise” comes from ancient Persian and means “protected garden”. The symbol of the Third Paradise is a reconfiguration of the mathematical infinity sign. The two external circles represent nature and artifice, the central circle is the conjunction of the two and represents the womb of rebirth.
The Accademia places among its guidelines the UN’s 17 Goals1, listed in their 2030 Agenda for a Sustainable Development:
